Post subject:  Rt.side marker lights and dash lights and heat control light

I just bought my 05 liberty and it didn't have a radio in it. I've installed a new aftermarket stereo and on my first drive I noticed the dash lights weren't working. So I went to the trusty internet and read if any outside lights weren't working my dash might not work. I had a front passenger marker light out. I replaced the bulb and now the front and rear are out and still dash lights are out. with front bulb out and rear light unhooked it blows a fuse every time. So I'm assuming a short in the wiring or in the dash lights. Any ideas or has anyone point in a direction I might need to look at or that I'm missing. I'm stumped. I'm reading maybe the bcm is bad and may be causing it Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!!!

Checked your Geordi-Ground? Or any of the myriad other grounds on the Lh side front end?

I've been thinking I can swear the lights were working when I done a full walk around before I went and got my tags for it. I'm going to take the radio out of it and see if the new radio is completely wired right. That is the only thing that chanced since then.

Check all the fuses under the hood and inside the cabin.

Download the 2005 KJ Service Manual here....Includes wiring diagrams which will show you the wiring, which fuses are relevant and where the grounding straps are. Yo will need a cheap multimeter to measure voltages at the bulb points with reference to their ground wires and also with reference to a clean chassis point in case the ground point has gone missing. The small lamps for aircon controls etc. are known to blow. The Parts Fiches that you can also download will show the part numbers but other part suppliers should have them.
