The starter relay is located n the power distribution center next to the battery under the hood! If it is going bad, it will prevent the starter from operating...

Generally speaking, a starter motor can last for a very long time if not abused. It is the solenoid and / or relay that usually wear out and go bad first...
I have seen original equipment starter motors over 60 years old that are still working perfectly today!
