Hi Jeepers,

it´s time to change the right front shaft of my 2003 Liberty 3.7, because it seems that the splines between the axle and CV are worn out.

But i can´t pullt the CV of the axle? Is there a ring to secure the axle inside the CV?

This connection i mean:

there's a c-clip on the intermediate, if you can get the intermediate shaft in a vice and give the cv a smack with a hammer you might get them apart (normally they aren't that difficult to separate) my last one was so jammed up i couldn't get it apart and just dropped it off at the parts store as my core and let the remanufacturers deal with it lol

btw: what´s the differece between the crd/2.4 and the 3.7 passenger side half shaft axle? different spline?

Found different infos in the www, but is it true that the crd shaft is shorter than the gasser shaft?

bye,
samse

A CRD differential is moved farther to the left side of the vehicle (from inside) to make room for the larger oil pan of the CRD.
(I don't know if passenger side is right or left for you.)
But that is why the axle half shafts are different lengths for the CRD than the ones of the 3.7L V6.

[edit] I think, more like this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CV-Axle-Assembly-Joint-Half-Shaft-MOPAR-5066057AB-fits-03-07-Jeep-Liberty-/272665829923?hash=item3f7c266223:g:uy4AAOSwjL5ZExDN&vxp=mtr

Ok, you think the axle shaft is longer at the CRD axle :?:

I´m asking because in the parts list for all engines the axle shaft has the same number, only the half shaft with the two CV´s are different numbers... :|

And another question: is this part #05066064AA SNAP RING, Axle Shaft necessary or not?

bye,
samse

I think the front diff on the CRD is shifted over to the side a bit due to the size/shape of the engine, so it makes sense that the half shafts would be different lengths than the gasser.

Edit: Oops, Gordnado already responded hours ago.
