Update on Photobucket situation!
I was able to download all my pictures from Photobucket to my computer!
After much reading and trying Flickr which I found to be more intuitive than I needed plus I could never get it to function with the Avatar picture on LOST.
I tried PostImage and it seemed to be the most simple solution and the Avatar worked with it!
I was able to upload all original pictures to PostImage and now in the process of replacing all the links on LOST with updated ones in PostImage!
This will take some time to complete as finding all the dead links will be almost impossible!!!

But I do agree with several others on here who have suggested it would be very nice if we could just embed the pictures in LOST and not have to deal with a third party host!!! :banghead:

If anyone is interested? I found a way to search on LOST for all my posts that have a Photobucket link embeded. :-)r
Started replacing all the old non-functioning PB links with new PostImage links. Got about fifty or so done; will take some time to get them all rebuilt.

Click on the "Search" button and insert: "photobucket&yourLOSTname" in the search box. (no quotation marks)
Example: photobucket&jeepman
then click on Search and it will find every post you have with a photobucket link!
HAVE FUN!!!!

If someone has quoted your post with a bad link, sorry, SOL!

darn Photobucket!!!! :furious: :banghead:

WWDiesel, thanks for taking the time to figure this out. I'm planning on updating mine eventually too.

Do you have to click on every image of an old post and open it up on photobucket's website to see what it is, then go scan through all your images on postimage to find the same photo? What is the most efficient way to do this with the least amount of clicks?

You could open each one to see what it is, but if you are like me dealing with hundreds of pictures, it would be painfully slow!

Actually when I downloaded all my pictures from photobucket back to my computer, PB puts a unique code on the end of the name of each picture file! I simply uploaded all of those downloaded pictures up to PostImage and organized them by categories. I did not rename any of them!

So, when I pull up the LOST post with the bad link and go into "Edit" mode, it shows me the name of the picture file that I used to post from PB.
I simply have to find the new picture with that same name in the new picture sharing host service and replace the bad link with a new one to PostImage.

Example of a picture file name:
Note, PB adds everything after the 0003_
media/Wiring%20Diagrams/8W-10-20_Page_0003_zps8hvghqw9.jpg

doing it this way, I did not have to open photobucket....
Hope this answers your question?

It does! Thanks. Opening Photobucket for every pic is what I was trying to avoid.

Another question. Is there a way to download everything from Photobucket all at once, or do I have to save photo by photo? (I have 23 pages of photos on their site and haven't figured out how to download them all together.)

EDIT: figured it out. There is a "download album" link under actions in the right hand side bar.

Thats right! If you have all your pictures organized into different Albums in PB like I did, you will have to open each album individually and then download all the pictures in that album to your home computer or tablet, etc...

PostImage also allows folders (they call them "Gallery's") so all I had to do was make a new gallery for each inity or category like Engine, Electrical, Transmission, Body, etc.. you get the idea!
and then upload all the pictures into each gallery. I did discover on the upload, you can select all the pictures in a folder or category on your computer at once and it will upload all of them together..
A big time saver!!!!

The more I use PostImage, the better I am liking it. It is simple and a whole lot faster than PB! :pepper:

I made a PostImages.org account and am starting the process of rehabbing my old posts. Step 1: Fix my avatar!
Image

What size do you have PostImage shrink your photos to for the forums? 640x480 (for message boards), 800x600, something else, or none?

Post subject:  Re: !@#$ Photobucket!

I mostly have been using the 640x480 (for message boards).

Wonderful news, hallelujah! I have finished replacing every Photobucket link that I have ever posted on LOST with new links to PostImage.
So anyone searching and reading old posts will get to see the pictures...
Took me 4 to 5 days of spare time to replace over 200 links...

 :pepper: :-)r

Words cannot describe how I feel about Photobucket so I will not even try! There should be a law against what they have done to so many fine people!!! :furious: :banghead:
