Good afternoon, looking to get some new tires following my 2.5 inch lift. Went to the store but so many choices. Here are my questions for someone that does NOT do any rock crawling, just gravel, light mud, basically like " overlanding" Looking for 245 70 17 Questions: 1. Do I need to get LT tires for more robust construction ? 2. What about load rating? 3. Any brands above others ( keep in mind, I am not looking to spend more than about 200$ Canadian per tire or so) 4. Besides established brands, any other ones less known that are worth a look? Thank you for the help Looking to get tires either Friday or Saturday. Thx again Marcos Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

https://simpletire.com/ Most of your questions are common and answered on this site. The tire many long term Jeepers most frequently praise, is Goodyear DuraTrac https://simpletire.com/catalog?select=1&width=245&ratio=70&rim=17&zip&brand=43&query=catalog&line=1199 This link is for the size you seek. You will notice that the LT versions of any tire, have stiffer and stronger sidewalls, and usually a tread compound that is more dense, intended for pickups, so they can carry heaver loads without the tread squirming about from being compressed too much. Used on a vehicle that doesn't haul so much weight, the are often a more harsh ride as every little bump or groove on the road surface is transmitted to the vehicle without the absorption a normal non-LT tire would provide. An LT version of a tire, being a harder tread compound also tends to lose traction a bit sooner than a softer non-LT version of the same tire, when driving a light or unloaded vehicle on slippery roads. (wet / ice / light snow) so if these are things you encounter in your area, its something to consider. If you do rock climbing or off-road trails a lot, the thicker sidewalls of the LT version can save you from stick or rock punctures, and allow you to lower tire pressure a bit more without so much risk of losing bead seal. An LT version of the tire can also last more miles before wearing out. This, we often hear, is not a problem with the DuraTrac, as many report 80-90 thousand miles or more. Very unusual for an off-roaded Sport-Wheeling Vehicle. |

Thank you for the info. After reading it I settled on the LT version of the khumo road venture at51. Deep grooves with the snowflakes stamp for winter use. Thank you again Gordnado CRD for the help Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Always welcome & glad to help. Let us know after you get some miles on them, how you like them. My Coopers (in my sig) were twitchy as heck for the first 400 miles or so. Felt more like a sports car than a sports utility vehicle. Steering has no play, and is extremely accurate, but with new tires and new alignment, the slightest move of the steering wheel they were heading that way NOW! After 1200 miles they've settled down some and I've gotten used to them some, so we've kind of come to an agreeable relationship. I haven't had them in snow yet, but they're awesome in the wet and rain (I mean HEAVY rain. PNW coast rain.) |

Here's an update on the khumo tires. Very nice. They are load E tires but you barely notice the stiffness. There are no issues at all, very happy with them. Deep grooves also look nice. I did about 1200 Km's so far on city and highway speeds at about 70-75 mph and the jeep was very stable. Only issue I notice is some light queaking and like something is loose in the rear suspension when hitting medium bumps.... could be used brakes rattling. Will have it checked out when I return. I did change the upper rear control arm witch helped a lot with the noises. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Quick update on the " something loose" in the rear when going over medium bumps.... it was the hitch ball and extension I have.... so all I get at medium suspension compression is some squeaking that I will have to check for......... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
