Had the fuel pump and fuel filter replaced at a shop.
It had been having an extended cranking to start, and twice it wouldn't start when hot, until it cooled down.
I replaced the spark plugs because they were due.
Since it made no difference I got a fuel pressure gauge and hooked it on the fuel rail. When the key turned on, it only pressurized to 25 psi. On starting it went to 35 psi. When shut off, it dropped faster than it should. Proper value in the shop manual was 49psi (+/- 5).
I took it to a shop that could put it on the lift and lower the tank BUT they did the work by going through the access hatch in the rear anyway.
Fuel pressure now is 51psi and starting is normal.

This is on an '02, so the pump was 15 years and 163k miles. New pump is Delphi.
