So I have been on this HID light trip lately. Snagged 8 of them Anzo HIDs dirt cheap. 6 have been assigned to the front. 2 are left for the rear F*** you lights. I have the Steel RR roof rails and I am thinking of mounting 1 hid directly to the rail on each side. Im thinking of doing this by drilling a 3/4" hole straight down all the way through the rail. Then I'm considering mounting the HIDs to a 3/4" round stock about 4" long. I want to slide that into the rail and drill another hole through the side rail and the round stock and use a push pin to secure it all down. might add some kind or bushing to add a little pressure to the pin so the light wont rattle. now for the wiring...... I want to find some sort of retractable power cord that I can attach to my roof rack. Im thinking it would be pretty awesome to be able to pull the light anywhere needed and still use them on the trails. now to find the retractor that can handle multiple years in direct sunslight. Anyone have any thoughts on something like this or seen it done?

I guess I could use quick connect bullet connectorsat the rear light mount and on a cord reel inside the jeep.......but I like the idea of not having to do anything aside from removing the pin.

I mounted a 22" light bar to give me better light in reverse. It is sometimes flicked on for a half second 'as a warning' to aggressive drivers.

It is secured with two ubolts on the 1" square stock of my roof rack, wiring runs down the side of the rear window seal and then enters lower through the door seal with a drip loop before it goes in.

I have thought about designing movable lights also, but in the end, I'm fine with using a $15 high powered amazon flashlight for the rare times I need it. Personally, I decided to permanently mount my lightbar so I wouldn't get out to my jeep and find it missing one day.
