This happened in March. My gf and I were in Las Vegas for the Mint 400. We had been there for all of 5 hours when I'm texted the first picture in the album. Insurance ended up cutting me a check for the damage. Previously I've only painted small parts and never anything with automotive paint or a spray gun. The store I purchased the paint supplies from was awesome and they gave me a quick run down on how to mix everything in the correct quantities and tips for painting. I went to the local pick and pull junk yard and got a nice clean hood. We're in the process of getting a 12x24 shed as we don't have a garage on the house. So I had no where to paint the hood without having to worry about wind, dust, and dirt. Picked up some 8ft 2x4s, 2 3.5mil 10x25 tarps, 4 hinges, couple bolts, and made a fold up paint booth. It worked fantastic. Sturdy enough to hand the hood off it and while it was 85°-90° outside inside the booth it was way hotter so the paint dried very quick. I sprayed 2 coats of Atlantic Blue over the silver and 3 coats of clear. I still need to buff it but I'm very happy with the results for my first time and because I don't expect it to be scratch free for long with how tight trails are in the north eastern woods. |

Nice! I've never done it for a living, so I found painting to be really fun. Next best thing to getting a brand new toy is making the ones you already have look brand new. And way cheaper. Usually. |
