(EDIT) RATS ! I tried to post this in "What did you do Today. Changed oil and filter. Suctioned out from pan and replaced about 4 quarts of transmission fluid. Suctioned out and replaced the power steering fluid in the reservoir. Mobil 1 5W30 plus or minus. I am still using some 10W30 that I mixed with 5W20 to produce the more/less 5W30. STP extended range oil filter that was a package Autozone deal with the oil. Usually have Wix. Interesting that there is a leak at the right valve cover gasket, and since going to the Mobil1 ( from Pennzoil Platinum) the leak, the burning oil odor, and the need to add oil have improved. Still have a large stock of Platinum that will go into the Nissan Frontier. Havoline ATF+4. THe tranny was rebuilt at about 100K miles, now we're at almost 170K. I have a new tranny pan with a drain plug to install (Dorman) but haven't bothered yet. Maybe this fall. Vacuum suction hose down the dipstick tube -- slow but effective. Thought there was noise in the belt drive vicinity. Listened with a stethoscope, removed the belt and spun & shook all the pulleys. Decided it was OK to put back together for now. 2002 Liberty Sport. |
