| Post subject: | Driver's side rear window worm drive detached itself |
The night before making a 1300-mile drive, the driver's side rear window decided to detach the worm drive (flexible cable running from the window motor towards the rear of the vehicle) from whatever it attaches to and flop around inside the door. The window also dropped down into the door. Fortunately, I was able to raise the window and do some bodging with a wire coat hanger and some of the holes in the inner door frame to at least get it fully-raised. Surprisingly, it held like that for the entire trip. Anyway, I'd like to get this working again. There's a pretty good clicking sound when running the window motor via either the front or rear switches, and I have no idea how the worm drive should be connected. Any ideas? My connectivity is limited right now, so am taking shots in the dark at it at the moment. |

My left rear regulator failed right after I got my Jeep Liberty CRD back in 13; I replaced it with an Autozone unit since it had a lifetime warranty. In 2016 it started making a popping sound when it reached the full closed position. Autozone gave me another one no questions asked even before I had remove the defective unit. This one has been in there since 16 and still works perfectly. Love those lifetime warranties. Not a bad job to change one out, it can be done in around 30 minutes or less on the rear..... |

Forget Steiger... Overpriced for what it it... I get the same metal repair brackets on amazon for 100 for all 4... 1/4 the price of Steiger, I have been using them for years.
