Post subject:  Camber is off in the rear... any ideas for a fix?

The other day I noticed that the KJ now has some postive camber in the rear (wheels look like this \ / ). It's barely noticeable, but I don't want to cause excessive wear on my BFG's. I've got the rear swaybar off, do y'all think that may be why? If I put the sway back on, would the fix be covered under warranty? Thanks a ton.

EDIT: it may be a good idea for you guys to check your KJ's too. Not sure if this is a one-time thing or if it may be a common problem.

Unless you've done something really screwy to bend your axle ... it's an optical illusion.

Even repeatedly jacking up the rear of the vehicle by tossing a floor jack under the rear pumpkin likely wouldn't bend the axle enough for such to be noticeable. You'd just about have to slide sideways into a curb at speed or have some other type of wreck to bend a Chrysler 8.25" ...

EDIT: such a bend would usually also cause the vehicle to shred the rear diff internals, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Lack of a swaybar won't bend a rear axle and cause a camber problem. If it really is out of whack you bent your axle tubes somehow which would be pretty crazy to do.

Yea, before we have 2000 post about this... your camber can not be wrong on the rear of a KJ unless the rear diff tubes are bent. You would have all kinds of other problems to go along with that if they were so let's let this die off an easy death... If something really looks wrong and you think the rear is bent then please take it to the dealer but no one needs to worry about this.... This would be VERY RARE and you would have all kind of other things showuing up to let you know it. Later...Clint

Thanks guys, I figured I was freaking out over nothing, but I had to ask. Just my eyes playing tricks on me I guess.

Your eyes are playing tricks on you, but hey, you're not the only one! I think it has something to do with the rear flare/bumper area that makes the KJ's tires look like that.
