The code is P301 cylinder 1 misfire, the shop changed the coil for cylinder1 and all the spark plugs, the light was off when I left his shop only came on down the road, I went back and he said to drive it for awhile and it may go off. does this make sense?
My problem is emissions test and registration is due this month.
Has anyone had a coil pack fail that fast, maybe should only use a Mopar brand coil pack and NGK sparkplugs, Should the ASD relay be a suspect also?

If the DTC came back on, you still have a problem. You have changed the coil and spark plug, other possibilities are a small vacuum leak or an injector problem. First I would run a compression test while the engine is hot. If compression is good on cylinder no. 1, I would swap the new coil and spark plug and the injector to another cylinder and see if the problem moves to the swapped cylinder.

Could be a valve train problem, the 3.7 Mercedes designed engine had a terrible valve train, lots of head and valve and timing chain issues I have seen at work over the years, have them check running compression, I have seen lots of worn valve guides on them

Thanks for the replies, the check engine light went off and it passed emmissions testing and I sent in the registration, so it is good for now.
I went to long between oil changes and the no 1 plug was carboned up, he told me that cyclinder still showed weak reading or something like that, was not compression, don't know what he was reading?
Will keep a closer look at the oil level.
