I purchased a non running 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD a few months ago. With the help of this forum (I'm a newbie) I've got it up and running great. Compression Test, Cam Sensor, Crank Sensor, MAP Sensor, Front Control Module, Timing Belt and Motor Mounts. It had a partially completed EGR delete done on it which I completed. I then installed Nick's 811 EGR/FCV tune which turned off the Check Engine Light. My next hurdle is trying to get it to pass Emissions. I live in Phoenix and Emissions is required. I have not been able to find much information regarding Emissions and EGR delete. I used my Torque OBD2 app a couple of days ago to clear a couple of codes that popped up while replacing the timing belt. Today I checked Emissions Readiness and it shows the EGR status as Incomplete. My question is, will this code remain due to the EGR delete or will it eventually clear itself. I was also confused with the category System Type: Spark
I ran VW TDI's for many years and to be honest I can't remember if they even plugged into the OBD port when taking it to Emissions. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I hope its not spark infested. I hear that's really bad for diesels. What could I be doing wrong here? I hooked it up again, rescanned for fault codes (In case that might affect it) but I get the same information on the Emission Readiness. I'm using the Bayfax Products OBDII Diagnostic Interface along with the Torque Pro software. It's not exactly high end but its been working really well. I can scan codes, reset codes and view all kinds of real time data. It's given me no problems. Just don't know why its showing as a spark system.

So I decided to take the Jeep to Emissions testing and see what happened. This is in Phoenix Arizona. To be honest they didn't seem to know what to do with it. At first they waved me up to the area where they test autos, even thought I was in the Diesel lane. They scanned the door and then said Oh, this is a diesel and had me back up to the Dyno wheels. They had me turn the key off and back on and looked at the dash, presumably to look for a check engine light. They then had a discussion among themselves as to if they could Dyno test a 4 wheel drive. I glanced at the computer screen, and after a while he typed "No Dyno Information". I never turned a wheel on the Dyno. Apparently there was no information in their system for a Jeep diesel. They did not plug into the OBD port. I just sat there and idled. They collected my fee and said, congratulations you passed. Very relieved. :D

:BINGO: Congratulations! :pepper:

Now that is FUNNY!!! :ROTFL: :ROTFL:
If you are still curious about those DTC's, take it to a Autozone and get a free scan and see what they get.

Years ago when Ontario still required emmission tests to get your license renewal, I had an '02 Ram 2500 Diesel. Pulled in for the inspection, which was really just a smoke test. The technician came out, looked over the vehicle on a walk around, looked under the hood, signed the form and said "you're all set". I replied would you like me to start the truck?

Great! Just goes to show how worthless the EGR actually is.
