Hey guys. I recently bought a 2005 Liberty. When I picked it up I noticed the floors are damp. Thought it was just the location of the PO, as they lived in a heavily wooded area, even though it hadn’t rained in a while it was just damp.

Anyway, I noticed the other day the the passenger side and driver side tubs are wet. We have had quite a bit if rain over the past week, but this should not be as wet as it is. It is pretty much soaked.

Any thoughts?

I know it could be window seals, but I don’t think it is. The window seal looks good. Maybe some weep or drains plugged up? PO lived in a stand of pines.

Does it have a Sunroof?
If so, there are four small drains, one each in each corner of the Sunroof opening that if they get stopped up, will allow water to drain into the cabin floor. See drawing
Most times, they can be blown out and cleaned out using compressed air with a nozzle.
I had to unstop mine with I first got my Jeep back in 2013; water was dripping into the left floor everytime we had a hard rain.

Thanks for the reply and input.

My Jeep does not have a sunroof.

Alright, we will check the sunroof drains on my uncle's new Liberty project. It is the shop for the installation of the new set of tires from 4Wheelonline plus the alignment. The previous owner didn't find the source of the leak.

Recently had a problem with the floors getting wet.
First time both fronts were wet, second time just the right-hand front.
The jeep had the hood up about a foot.
When I closed the hood no more wet floors.
Looks like somehow when the rainwater ran down the back of the hood & got in.

Got the same problem on mine drivers ( right hand ) side floor wet, I took off the plastic scuttle panel under the wipers and cleaned out a couple of fist fulls of leaves and muck then blew it all out with an airline. Have to wait and see if it dries out.

If you have a sunroof, be sure all the drains are clear. (unstopped) There are four (4) of them, one at each corner.
But if you are getting wetness in the front floorboards, that is good sign of the front drains are stopped up. (been there done that)
If you open the sunroof, you can then find and blow compressed air through each of the drains to ensure they are not stopped up.

No sun roof in mine, it's an Irish van, down to a price not up to a spec!
