Hi All, My first post on here. I have a 2011 KK Liberty with an extended Warranty. Because of that warranty I only want to use Mopar parts so they don't pull a fast one on me and deny a repair in the future because of non Mopar parts. I'm doing some cooling system work and I ordered a thermostat from https://moparonlineparts.com which is owned by Westbury Jeep Chrysler Dodge of Long Island, NY. Today it came. It had no wrapping around it and was just inside of a normal padded envelope. On it I can clearly see on one side of the thermostat it is labeled Motorad. This seems really strange to me and I'm guessing this is not a genuine Mopar part, but is there a possibility Jeep uses a Motorad thermostat as the original? I'm thinking this is fishy but thought I'd check with all of the experience/knowledge on here before calling them. On another note, I ordered the other parts from Larry H Miller Jeep Chrsyler at https://www.lhmchryslerjeep.com/ They are the same dealer that sells parts to my side of the country on the official mopar website. I found that going direct from them saved me about 10% than from ordering from the Mopar site. Also, I should have used them for the thermostat because their shipping is cheaper to WA than from NY. Normally, I'd use RockAuto but at the time I ordered they were going to send from 3 separate warehouses and I would have to pay triple the shipping. Thanks for your time, I'd appreciate your thoughts. I'm guessing I have a complaint call in my future to MoparOnlineParts. Peter |

Just got off the phone with them and after initial pushback the guy said that he saw they were lots of backorders and they shouldn't have done this. Now I will order from Rock Auto. Anyone have opinions on Motorad vs. Gates for thermostats? That's the choice RockAuto has. TIA, Peter |

I'm suspect if this part would be genuine Mopar. The 2 Dealer's were at https://www.lhmchryslerjeep.com/ (they told me that it was back ordered through the end of the month and to try back then, no promises), AND https://parts.moparonlineparts.com they sent me a Motorad thermostat and charged me the Mopar price, and now they've payed for shipping back and will give me a refund. If they can't get a genuine Mopar TStat I can't see how this one from Auto-Pro America., though linking from the Amazon Mopar Store could be one. Thanks much for your help and time in looking this up and responding. I bought a Gates Tstat from RockAuto. If this voids my warranty I have communications from 2 different dealer's it's not available, so hopefully that will help. |

Gates is a well known and reputable brand, it even supplies OEM parts to some manufactures, so you should be just fine with the Gates thermostat.

So, what thermostat did you end up with? A friend of mine recently acquired this KK and he's looking to replace the thermostat soon after mounting the suspension from 4Wheelonline this week. The dealer here only got Motorad at the moment so he's looking for another option. I'll mention the Gates thermostat. |
