Someone asked so here it is.
Disclaimer: This is not a highly engineered piece of equipment. I had this idea on my way home from work the day before we left for Colorado and this is what I came up with. I have a portable hanging/mounting bag system thingy with no less than 28 straps that wrap around everything to secure the player, then when my daughter puts her foot on it the thing flips upside down. This one will not do that, and it attaches and dettaches in a couple of minutes. No, I wouldn't use it off road or on a race track, but it works great for traveling.

I bought a piece of 22ga sheet metal from HomeDepot. I traced a box a little larger than the player (mine is a 9"!), then cut the excess material off and notched the corners with the a cutt-off wheel on the RotoZip (I love this thing).
I then took some 1/4" bar stock as a straight edge and a rubber mallet and beat the sides down to form the box. I also smothed all the edges and corners with the RotoZip (I love this thing).
I had a piece of 1x2 RedOak laying around and it was longer than the distance between the inner legs of the headrests, I didn't measure because it fit and I didn't feel like cutting it down. I mic'd the headrest posts then found a drill bit that looked like it would work, it did. I had some silver and black spraypaint and painted both pieces. Just before we left that morning, I found some bolts and nylocks that looked like they would work and mounted the box to the cross piece and everthing worked perfectly, to my amazement. The Liberty did smell like spraypaint for a little bit.
When she (our daughter) wasn't watching a movie, I'd take the box off and she would use the cross piece for a foot rest.
It's very basic but did the job well.
