Hi all,

New guy in town here :)

I just bought my 04 Liberty Sport about a month ago. So far I really like it although I'm still getting used to a slightly smaller SUV. Previously I owned a 96 Cherokee Sport and managed to put 203,000 miles on it. What a great vehicle it was. The Liberty feels more refined so it's a nice change. One of these days well get her off road a bit to see the difference there.

I have one question for now. I want to add fog lights but may be interested in the external type instead of the factory inside bumber mounts. Has anyone had experience in doing this and is the Renegade kit available and or compatable?

Thanks!

Many, many people have mounted PIAAs or Hellas on thier bumper. Look around here and you'll find info, or maybe someone who has done it will chime in again.

I doubt you'd be able to mount a renegade kit from an 'o5/'06 to your '04 bumper as the bumper is different, but those lights are hellas anyway. Go aftermarket and save yourself some money.

Uh huh! The Cherokee is smaller, overall, than the Liberty. The Liberty also weighs almost 1,000 lbs more than the Cherokee. More when you have the Renegade model. I am talking stock, off the showroom floor. No mods.

1000 lbs? :(

Wow, I never did the math.

I guess it's the cargo area that seems a bit smaller. Otherwise I'm very content with the design.

I just hate to drill holes if I don't have to. But the externals look so much cooler so I will shop around. Got to get some roof racks first :)

The factory fog lights work great in my opinion for daily driving. I use them all the time during dusk, instead of headlights. I siwtch to the headlights once it is dark enough and proper for them. If you plan to do some really tough off-roading, they could get in the way if you get larger tires with a lift. A great risk of damage if you hit your lower end of the stock bumper hard, and you will definitely soak them on water crossings.

I have not had any issues with them and I have gone into some deep waters. I am replacing my front bumper with Rock Lizards Monitor Lizard Bumper (http://WWW.ROCKLIZARDFABRICATIONS.COM) So I will have to either drill holes into it for my stock fog lights or buy new ones to mount onto the bumper.

Great specs for the Cherokee

Shoulder Room:_____54.7"____________56.5" FRONT
Shoulder Room:_____54.7"____________56.5" REAR
Curb Weight:_______3355 lbs__________4033 lbs

KJ specs taken from Jeep.com

Note* Found a few other sites listing the 1995 Cherokee as being only 166.9" in length.

Not sure why a KJ Sport would weigh the same as a KJ Renegade but the Jeep website lists them the same.

Not trying to downgrade or degrade an XJ. Just putting out specs.

The size image is all visual when looking at a KJ off to one side and an XJ on the other side of a field. Enjoy your new KJ and soak up the additional space your KJ gives you.

I like that too. My only concern would be those parking lot idiots bumping into them.

Look in the Fabrication section for light bars, there are a few for the front bumper that people have been showing off. Most are simple to make, easy to install and look good.
