That topic sounds funny to me lol? I've got the K&N flat air filter that sits in my stock box. I know when I bought it, I read that it was washable. Now that sounds pretty easy, but the word easy doesn't belong in a Jeep forum, at least from my experience. Do I just take a hose and wash it out...and let it dry then stick it back in? But is it just THAT easy? Anyone ever do this?

There's a recharge kit you need to buy...you spray it, let it sit, rinse it out, let it dry, re-oil it, install it.

So no, NOT THAT EASY. :D Don't over-oil!!!

Why is it bad to over-oil?

I dont have the full recharge kit but I do have the oil. I wash mine out with a hose let dry completely. Then Spray with oil then let dry for 30 minutes then drop it in and drive.

The oil comes in a spray can so its easy to use. Just make sure if you do wash it out to re-oil it because darn near useless with out the oil.

Make sure when you clean them, you allow the water to flow from the engine side to the intake side, and not the other way around. so if you put it under a sink, the side facing UP should be the side that is on top as it sits in the box. If you do it upside down you may force dirt particles all the way through the filter element. That is not good.

Don't worry, all the small particles have already passed through the filter and into your engine.
