What is the top speed for 4lo? I have seen some threads that state when towing, use 4lo, which I though on the freeway? So how fast should/can you go in 4lo? Does not really say in da book. |

you don't wanna go faster than 25mph in 4lo. I never even let it get it past 15mph when I wheel in 4lo. Parakeet |

Page 114 of my Jeep's manual says not to go past 25 mph in 4 Lo . I'm with parakette on this one...15 mph is about the top It's important to remember that when your offroad you should keep your speed down. What they advertise on TV is WAY to fast. Most of the trails out west are "multi use" trails which means there will definately be a motorcycle or Quadrunner comming the opposite way at "mach speed" . |

The page in my manual is 223. Do not drive over 25 mph in 4-Lo. |

I am thinkiong the person who you thought was talking about low was probably talking about leaving it out of overdrive and you will get different thoughts on that here depending on what you are towing. cometo think of it if you were towing through mud........

The only time I would use 4-Lo anywhere but offroad would be if I was on pavement in a straight line recovering somebody (like if they had gone off the road or into a snowbank or something). Low speed, high torque. Maybe if I was putting a boat in or out of the water and normal 4-hi wasn't cutting it? I think 4-hi should be enough for most cases. |

TKX all, I finally found it in the book. I must of just forgot it, I had read the book twice thru and must of just forgot. What I have been doing was setting it in 4lo, and watching the tach to be sure I did not go over 3k, which was about 25-30. I always turned off the over drive and wonder what gears I go be in (D, 2 1), so I tried all of them in both 4hi and 4lo (I have command track) and just made sure the tach did not go over 3k for 4lo as safty. Since the book say I can engage 4hi up 55, I did not see to much in testing it too much. Again, thanks. |

Actually I used 4-Lo to get out of a pothole once. I think two other people also had to do that. It had something to do with reversing out of it, and in my case, having had the car sit tilted forward for some time (while we had dinner). Coincidentally, I went back into that same spot and did the same thing again but we didn't sit as long this time, and we got out fine in reverse, although I had to rev the engine up to nearly 2000RPM to get out. Weeeeeird. |
