OK so I checked my LBJs and found the pass. side to have lots of up and down play in it. I have no side to side play at all. So I take the libby to the dealership to have it covered under warrenty. Well they say that up and down play is normal for the libby....... I have had no problems with this dealership at all. What in the h@ll should I do now?

Tell them to put a dial indicator on it and check it per the service procedure. Then have them put in writing on your invoice the readings from the dial indicator.

IF the shop is worth a darn, they would have done that to begin with. If they are telling you the ball joints are w/in spec, then they should prove it to at least cover their a$$es. BTW, I am pretty sure there is a documented dealer service procedure for checking all DC brand ball joints. The KJ isn't the 1st vehicle they have had ball joint problems with.

Man!! When you have to tell the dealers how to check stuff it really makes you wonder. We put our lives in their hands every time we get in our KJs yet these scumbag dealers (there are good ones out there too I've heard) don't have the decency to be thorough when they check our vehicles. Well.. time is money I guess, and nothing is more important in America than money right?????

There should very little movement so I don't know how that can get away with saying that.

Well I went to the dealership and spoke with the service manager and basically told him to let me show him and the "front end man" what I saw when I checked them. Well they were like what? you used a pry bar and didn't just pull and push on the wheel? That isn't right. I said are you sure???? They said yes We will show you in the service manual. Well the service manual basically made an a&& out of them of course. So I guess without knowing exactly what the dial indicator says New LBJs are in order with less than 27,000 miles on an 04. So I will be going to the NHTSA web site and reporting the problem.

Good work TAZER, I bet that was a GREAT feeling. It's too bad that it has to graduate all they way to that, just to get the correct service needed.
