These are a few pics of me "horsing" around. I was just checking the articulation, looking for clearance issues, limiting factors, etc. It has a 3.5" suspension lift and I want to add a 1-2" BL, cut off the rockers, and open up the wheel wells in order to stuff 37s. She's currently sitting on 33s.

Purchased a pair of Hanson Rockers and followed Marty's tech article on fender trimming. I took my flares off because they’re the fiberglass type and I’m trying to stuff 35’s or maybe even 37s with just my current 3.5” SL and 1” BL. Therefore, I plan on making a couple of other mods in the process. If I had opted to keep the flares, I could have ran the rockers to the flares edge, or for add protection, ran ‘em underneath and had the flares come to rest on the rockers. I would like to go the route of removing the inner front fenders, fab’n up an engine cage, and extend the rear wheel wells while pushing the rear axle back a few inches. (But that's another can of worms I'm not quite ready to open.) I could've opted to eliminated the rockers all together, but to be perfectly honest, I was a little hesitant at first, and later after I had already ordered 'em, figured, what the hell. The rockers aren't as hardcore as the newer stuff on the market today. Nowadays Jeep rockers are tied up to the frame or body mounts, etc. But these are a very nice product that should serve me well. Taking a close look at 'em, it wouldn't be to difficult to tie 'em into the frame later. They're made of 3/16" hot rolled steel and simply bolt up to the rocker lip. Very simple install. So far, I am very pleased with the outcome. Here are the results. Contents of the package.

With a coat of primer, nothing fancy, I mean they’re rockers right?

Maybe with the rear axle pushed back a bit. Notice the weird cut on the bottom forward edge. That's why I opted to remove the flares and open things up a bit more.

Front trimmed up some and then edges cleaned with molding. Thanks Marty, I appreciated your help. 
Same with the rear. 
Scrapped rear. Gained at least an additional inch.;D 
Finally finished the passenger side.

Thanks for the comments guys. RL had a great write up that just made it look too easy. I'm very fortunate to have found one in really good condition, but my goal remains to get her to look anywhere near this guys gorgeous Bronc. I realize I'm not even close (I lack his fab skills), but what the hell, right? Gotta aim high!

Okay, so now it's time for a new roll cage. The goal is a custom 6-point. Here's a list of the build material & parts. For Tubing 120' - 1.75" x .120" DOM Tubing 
From Poly Performance 8 - Foot Plates 
4 - Foot Plates with Bushing Mount Bracket & Bushings 
10 - Gussets 2.5" x 2.5" 
2 - CROWE 3x3" Integrated "Y" Restraints, Black 
From A&A Manufacturing 4 - Double Shear Seat Belt Tabs

Okay, after playing with numerous designs, I believe the builder and I are finally in accordance. (Although, he really wanted me to go with the one pictured in 4 & 5 for optimum protection.) Follow along as I try to explain the design logic. I wanted the B pillar angled back so my head wouldn't touch anything. 
But then that backward angle created an inherent weakness which needed to be addressed. 
So we triangulated some more. 
It also left my head exposed, under an ~ 2' opening, requiring further overhead protection. 
But that would've required another stick of tubing, more labor, etc. So, I opted to go a little more traditional and chose the following design. It's a hybrid of all the cage design options that I personally like. The C pillar comes in and will tie in directly over the frame. This will allow room for me to lengthen the wheel tubs later on. Trust me, this thing is a lot more hardcore than I am. Come on, admit it, it's bada$$! 
Okay, maybe one more final change. To hell with cutesy, the rear spreaders will now go straight back rather then kick out towards the C pillar to allow maximum, rear occupant, protection. 
We'll worry about how to tie the seats in later. My daughter really doesn't want me to fix the seats to only accomodate my driving position. Completed pics to follow. She should be done in time for some weekend wheeling. |

I know, I know, once the seats are tied to the cage and the cage to the frame, I'll finish painting it. I'm also going to Herculine the remainder of the interior. She's now sitting on a set of 35s as well. Skid protection goes on tomorrow. Here we go...
