I've got it out of the mud and back to the garage now. I'm still trying to determine if I'm going to part it out or fix it up. As it turns out the frame has barley any sufface rust on it. Not bad for an old buggy that sat in a farm feild for over 10 years.

I got it from the original owner who used it as his work/hunt'n/fish'n truck. Figure I'd do a No budget build up on it. After all, I got it for free. That is, until I can locate the title, then I'll probably drop a few bucks and a 6pack to get the bill of sale done.

I'm saving up for a new compressor and blast cabinet, so if anyone knows someone looking for Jepster parts, please send'em my way.

Wow, looks like you have your work cut out for you with that one. I envy you though, I sometimes wish I had a project. I guess for now I'll just have to keep working on my KJ.

BTW, you might want to check the size of your avatar. I think the limit is 150 pixels x 150 pixels.

Thanks, I've been meaning to shrink it... I need to scan a better one. All of my digitals are not my best work. I've got great stuff in print from our CO trip. So, I admit that I have been lazy with following the rules, which is pretty a-typical for me.

When we built our new home, I had the garage wired with 220 so I can hook up my welder. Once I get to cutting and fabbing, this thing will change pretty quickly. :D

Hey, thanks for the vote! Maybe I should take a pole, eh?

One last thing I've been mulling over. The 225 is in need of lots of TLC which I will eventualy give it. But sitting along side the Jeepster is a lightly used 231 that I pulled from a Grand National.

I kept it for just such an opportunity. With over 300 stock hp, I wonder how much work it would take to make the Comando a fire breather on and off road? :D

Fortunently, one of the few remaining soop-up shops for GNs is here in H-Town and their owner thinks a Jeeps would be very desirving of this heart transplant. My little dream is to have the spair tire cover on the back be embroidered with the Buick Turbo 6 logo. Of course, I'd HAVE to get the GN bumper sticker that says, "Mustang, its what for dinner."

Guru, what's wrong with good old-fashioned AMC V8 power? :D

Nuthing wrong with them at all, but as you know, a bird in the hand is worth at least two in the bush.

Any update on this? I can point you to some great Commando boards, if you have not found them yet. BTW......a Buick V8 replaces that 225 very nicely.....

I rebuilt the AMC 304 in my old CJ and wished time and time again that I would have just picked up a Chevy HO crate engine and dropped it in with a tranny adaptor. It would have cost about the same and would have yielded about 100 more hp.

Looks like an awesome project. Personally, I would go SOA unless you are going for the 'original' type of project.

My '80 FJ40 has 5" of lift with a spring under and it rides like hammered s**t. 8)

It sat in the original owner’s field for about 10 years. It sat in my old garage for about a year and now in the new garage since May. Now that I’m in the new house I've got to reorganize and get start over again.

Yep, a V8 would be nice, but the 231 was free and think with a heavier fly wheel it should perform nicely. Plus, keeping the turbo will make it unique.

My buddy has an np205 sitting around, but I'm leaning toward looking for a dana 300.
