I guess its refreshing to know that even the designers of $250K dollar exotic cars that makes heads turn around every corner, can even churn out a ugly duckling now and again. Not sure if it looks more like a 4x4 or a seaworthy battleship. 12 cylinders is outta control and would be awesome, but not enough for me to overlook the how ugly it is. LOL  It's different for sure. Good to know ugly comes in ALL price ranges. :P I'm still trying to figure out which end is the front!!

Well Lamborghini started with these:

before they built these:

So it's not hard to imagine them producing at least one reasonable 4x4.

Haha, it's a cool tid-bit of knowledge about lamborghini. Feel free to use the knowledge to suprise folks :P

Here is the story about the origins from Wikipedia.

"As told by Ferruccio Lamborghini's son,[3] Ferruccio Lamborghini went to meet Enzo Ferrari at the Ferrari factory to complain about the quality of the clutch in the Ferrari 250 GT he owned. Enzo Ferrari sent him away telling him to go and drive tractors because he was not able to drive cars. Lamborghini went back to his factory, had his Ferrari's clutch dismantled and realized that the clutch manufacturer was the same who supplied the clutches for his tractors. In his warehouse he found a spare part which he thought suitable, and when it was installed the problem was solved. Furious with what he considered to be Enzo Ferrari's arrogant and aloof treatment Ferrucio Lamborghini promised himself never to go back to Ferrari for another car but rather beat him at his own game by creating a superior sports car. Thus the idea of a Lamborghini sports car was born."

Still pretty nuts. Good history about Lamborgini fed up with the customer service with Enzo. If you look at it a little deeper, Enzo Ferrari only made road cars to fund his racing team as racing was his passion. Crazy italians and their tempers.

That story sounds very similar to the history behind the Shelby Cobra. I'm not sure of the details but it had something to do with Farrari talking smack about Shelby or American cars so Shelby built the Cobra specifically to beat Farrari on the international circuit. This would be back in the late '50s/early '60s. If someone knows the details, I think it would be cool to know them.

The Lamborghini LM was built to by Chrysler to compete agaist AM General HMMWV for the goverment contract to replace the M151 Jeeps.Lamborghine LM lost so Lamborghini redesigned it and made 200 of them to sell to the public, swapped the rear engine 360 for the 5.2L V-12 up front.

Lamborghini started out making farm tractors,Lamborghini had a Ferrari but had clutch problems and Enzo wouldn't fix them and Lamborghini said screw Ferrari and started making his own sports cars, the Murria(spelling?) was the first Lamborghini sports car.

Hey Pete I can tell you all about Carol Shelby,I have meet him twice and not just a handshake.I got the pleasure to ride in his twin supercharged Cobra 427.That was a rush, talk about snapping your neck when he dropped the clutch at 5000rpm 8) !
