The van is too cool! chris Well I was 28/29 years old when we built them, now I am......... well older than that and I still remember what it took to climb in and out everytime, I really don't think I could climb up in a KJ on 40s anymore The Dodge was actually pretty easy , open the door grab the steering wheel and the door and walk up the lugs of the tire |

Sweet vans Tom, I always wanted a 4x4 Chevy when I was younger, just to be different. I think Quigly stills makes a few conversions. Gas was 1.11 back then too! |

Gas was 1.11 back then too! Guys van ( the blue one picture was taken in 1982 down in Daytona Beach) There are still 2 major manufacturers of 4 Wheel Drive vans, lots are still sold and seem to be a more out west type of thing Quigley is one although they are 4 wheel drive thay are pretty much basic transportation I would say If I was in the market I would go Sportsmobile, then you get things like Atlas transfer case, Dynatrac Prorock 60s.diff, OME suspension etc lots of them running diesels now , lot of cool stuff being done to them, lot more options than when we did them |

Here was my feeble attempt to get a little more height on an astro... Too bad it was AWD, I would still have it. Other van (green/black)is a guy in New york, full SFA up front.

Tahoe I keep looking at the Astros just for something different to play with, lifting one a little locker in the rear and just for camping / fun The green/black looks bad for sure 3/4 ton diffs, with lock outs Looks to be Ford running gear? |

Man Tom, you're good. 4 Wheelin @ Paragon in New York, they shut it down right after he finished, so he sold it to a buddy. Easy to get 4-5" out of them, I had right about 5" on mine. I know you do your own stuff, but check out Overlandvans.com Here's the link to his build.... http://astrosafarivans.org/bb2/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=8 |

Big fan of teardrops, I've just been concerned due to the height of building up one for trail use. |

Mine will be about the same heighth as the KJ , 4 foot sides or so 5 foot wide, , 10 foot long, well 8 foot box, with two foot on the front for firewood, grill whatever |
