Get a load of this: a senior at my local high school did this last summer, after "getting sick of dealing with the IFS" 
These pics are from the school's parking lot Those are 35" MT/Rs, 3 and 4 link suspension, coils in front and leafs in the rear still, and a body lift. |

Wow! times have changed, when I graduated back in 95' kids were lucky to have 3 - 5 thousand dollar cars. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore. |

I know man. Back when I was in Highschool i had and old Cherokee that I could barely afford gas for, let alone offroad parts. |

Well I'm just a 17 year old myself. This is the case with many kids at my high school...parents provide ride, and if it's a 4x4 the kid will usually mod it a little at least. That's how I got my Lib, that's how this kid got his Xterra. He used to have a 2.5" lift (how similar!) and a body lift on 31s, but after $6000 (he has a really good summer job), he's got at least 6 inches of suspension lift and probably the same body lift. I'm 17 as well. I basically took over my parents KJ. It's technically still my parents car, but I am pretty much the one who drives it and wants to do mods. My parents enjoy the Cummins Dodge (which is a little too big to park sometimes). I know what you mean about school parking lots. There's some Titans, a BMW, some Duramax GMCs and other pricey vehicles that I park next to every day. |

Back when I was in high school, we modded our wagons with Clydesdale horses instead of the stock Morgan horses, so we could go off-roading. Actually, guys were making suped up Novas, Cutlass Supremes, Monte Carlo's, Cudas, Mustangs, Camaros, Trans Ams, and Cougars (cars from the 60's - early 70's). |

im 20 now and it never amazes me the kinds of rigs kids are getting, and im not going to lie i have been very fortunate in my upbringing as well, but in all honesty i would give it all up if i could be a highschool student in the late 60's.....all the cheap power and cheap gas!!! nice X too |

LOL i had a girlfriend in highschool that drove a Porsche Cayanne S.... Man did we do some roading in that thing. I drove either the my sami with Jp eater lift and 33's, or my 89 Yota with 4" pro comp front, OME springs rear, lockers, 4.88's, 4.7:1 marlin crawler xfr case, Detroits f/r, and 35" Courser Mastercraft MTs. I couldn't afford to drive the ole 72 comet gt because it only gets like 8mpg |

I think everyone should have to drive a junker as a kid, you learn to respect the car when you have to deal with one that breaks down all the time. Some of us had to go to college and get jobs to buy our jeeps, we don't all have rich parents
In the same vein, I think everyone should work in fast food early in life. You really learn to respect the people working there that aren't able to get a better job. Fast food was the hardest, grueling and least rewarding job I've ever had. |

I respect my vehicle as a kid now because I want it to last me as long as possible, obviously into mid-adulthood. If I drove some POS I'd probably do jumps and stuff but I drive a rather expensive vehicle that I myself don't actually own, and therefor I must respect it. |

Take a zero off and you have my first car!Convert that to mexican pesos... it was a POS all rusted Datsun (now nissan) pickup, 4x4 of course. I was so poor in High-School that the top half of the thank was full of spider webs. I tried to fill it up once and the tank droped to the floor

$150 for my 1972 Cutlass, 4 door, YELLOW, crumpled front fender. Bought it off of my dad's friend. The insurance company had totaled it because of the fender. Got 6 good months out of it before the tranny died. Sold it for $50. Great car. One of the most solid cars I have ever owned. My KJ is the first "new" vehicle i have ever owned, and I was 37 when that happened. |

Yeah I'm 17 and I know I am incredibly lucky to have such a nice renegade. But at my high school parking lot a Jeep is on ther low price range. I mean there are Hummers, trucks blinged out(yuck), Bimmers, etc. Anyways I love my Jeep and i am fortunate to have it. Just want to Frankenlift it now. |

nice X too I hear ya. Aside from living in the 60s...that would blow, cuz then i'd be old now:P I'm 25 now, and I've had a few nice cars. my CJ-7 I built in high school (with a little financial help from Dad, but largely my own) and my '77 Cobra II (all me, TYVM) were my toys, but daily I drove a beat up fox body T-bird. had three of those mofos too (the T-birds, lol), and miss my most recent one:| Oh, and my KJ is my first vehicle that was less than 12 years old when i bought it...back in october and yes, the thread was jacked, but it's somewhat on topic:P |
