Hi all,

Just adding some photo’s of an outing back in October, I was hoping to have more to show but forgot my camera….

A quick stop during the Green Laning (3 Jeep + 2 Mitsubishi)
Image
Saddly no actions photos, so once again when we stopped.
Image
The other KJ is also a CRD 2.5L 2002 with front winch
Image
After a very muddy part of the green lanes where we had to turn back as the 2 front lead 4x4 got stuck and needed recovering
Image
Due to the rain the provious day and on the day, I ended up collecting a lot of Mud in the front Skid plate, I have now added and extetion similar to the Boiler Skid plate, hopefully I won't be collecting this much mud again :ROTFL:

Hi,

Lead vehicle Mitsubishi Shogun(Pajero) and next was the Grand Cherockee( give the guy credit he was in AT and the rest of us were on MT). We were on a Green Lane that was very close to a ploughed field and the farmer has made a bit of a mess of the Byway.

I'm down in Norfolk!

My Jeep is a 2.4 Petrol.

What are people's thoughts on the 2.5 CRD as there is one up for grab..

The 2.5 CRD is a nice engine, and parts for it are readily available from the VM specialist in Chesterfield - in fact a lot of the Aus lads get engine parts from him! Have a word with Fil (Pippobug), as he has a 2.5 - so he'll be able to give you more info on it.

Where in Norfolk? A friend of mine lives about 5-10 miles from Cromer.

And you might want to join http://www.jeep-club.co.uk/ as well!

I find the Petrol lump a bit on the slow side...

I'm just out side of King's Lynn.

- I'm already signed up on there, and have been in contact with Fil.

The KJ is a fairly heavy vehicle for its size, so the 2.4 petrol would struggle a bit; I believe that the 3.7 is better in that respect, but pretty heavy on fuel!

I'm getting 17mpg now so that doesn't really bother me :D

Anyway back on topic....

Andy,

Welcome to Lost!!... CRD are a lot better than petrol ones specially on cosumption, still all depends what mileage you do. I would love a V6 for the fun of it ( and they are starting to go cheaper now) but for practical reason a CRD is the way to go over here. When it comes to change mine (if I ever do) it will have to be a CRD2.8 as to find another 2.5 with low mileage and full history is very hard ( also at a reasonable price....sean then asking more for a low mileage CRD 2.5 than a CRD2.8 full spec with average mileage!  )

Once I am up and running again ( might be some time ) might organise a meet up in Thetford Forest for a short run with a group of KJ from The Jeep-Club UK.

Andy,

if you find one that is good I would go for it.

These are the reason in my personal opinion ( your CRD2.8 don't start!!)
1) CRD 2.5 is the same engine as the 2.8 and came first, they rebored to make it 2.8 and to keep emission down added a lot more electronics.
2) CRD 2.5 weighs on average about 300 kg less than a 2.5, so less stressed.
3) consumption wise, if you don't mess with it (ie no lift or funny tyres) you can get up 28 MPG but on average 25/6 on a normal run, yes CRD 2.8 owners claim a lot more. Yes it's not as fast as a 2.8 top speed 100 mph, but who is in a hurry and the Norfolk Police love issueing point.... ( I am also a bikes)
4) CRD 2.5 actually lift probably better that CRD 2.8 auto, I have run a 3.5 inc lift for over 30K and a part from changing the front wheelbearing at 90K & 105K miles and a problem of allignment (to be expected with any KJ lift to a certain extent) that is all I have had.
5) if you decide to change and go for a CRD 2.8, I would save up a look for a good CRD 2.8 6 speed a lot better than the auto and less hassel with shudder from the transmition and problems with the torque convertor.
6) Most of all less electronics to go wrong, with the enginer light coming on on a regular base ( I spend a lot of time on Italian, Spanish & Germans forum andit's the same all over....)
7) If you have found one, make sure it hasn't been towning, it seams that around the 110K miles a lot of KJ the rear diff bearing go, I have come up a lot of post with this problem and new parts via the dealership are starting to be a real issue.
Hope this hasn't put anyone reading it off, it's aminly for 2001-2005.
8) I could carry on with more but...wrong post, and we are lucky compare to the US as we got more CRD to choose from over here.

Not much activity here lately...

Image

Here's my 2.8 CRD 2004 as I bought it 2012, in original Belgian plates. Lived there at the time. My son baptized it "Nusuki". How much ever I explained it's Jeep, not Suzuki, he kept his head. So, meet The Nusuki.

Image

Here's Nusuki as she was yesterday. 255/60-17 Pirelli Scorpions with 8 x 17 Dotz Rafting alloys, Racechip's tuning box (works great!), sagged front suspension and leaning slightly to left. Will be fixed with H&R and GYB, as she's right now in 200k service.

As I threatened in Lift Kit topic, I will do first off-road test after lift in August and now it's done. Took some paths and meadows at shallow mountains close by and was very satisfied, how H&R +40mm springs and KYB Excel-G gas shocks performed. Neither skid plates, nor bump stops gave any "bangs" as it used to be and it's surprising what kind of confidence creator is few centimeters more ground clearance...

Trying to hide?

Funny, how really steep hill looks like flat in pics.

That's better...

Landscape. And The Nusuki.
