Just had my yearly MOT (TUV,APK) test, guess what?

They could not get a reading from the exhaust with the Bosch machine, they revved the engine up for over 20 times and only when they red lined it they got a reading but even that was extremely low.

75.000 Miles on the clock and burning cleaner that the mot station has ever seen, I should get a tax deduction instead of paying more and more for driving a 4x4.

Great to hear that the emissions are good! Have you done any CCV mods or EGR mods to the car?

keltick: When I see you're a supporter of Munster (MONSTER) rugby I remember I had a friend who was studying in Denmark at Grundfos who came from your area. He was a rugby player as well and he told me lots of stories about the Munster team :)

No, just had it serviced every 12.500 Miles.
Maybe its our driving habits, as we live very remote trips are never shorter that 30 Minutes and we do longer distances on a regular basis like going to a concert or shopping 4 Hours from here in Edinburgh.

Is that with timing belt fitted or is that JUST the belt itself??

this is stealership
its only the timing belt, isnt it great

if that price is supply and fit it's not too bad.in the kit you get a belt and 2 pulley wheels and any dealer worth his salt will also change the tensioner whilst there at it.

think its only belt and no fit
wouldnt get dealer fit it at 60 euro per hour plus vat, dont think so
would get local guy to do it as he has gear
dont think you get all that, will ask monday

Post subject:

cambelt and two pulleys are about £115+vat and tensioner is about £65 +vat from dealer, hope this helps

What is this test you speak of? Is this the turn your key and rev, emissions test? :?

In UK you have an mot test every twelve months but not for the first 3 years from new.In the test they check all over the car firstly with emmissions then onto bearings ,balljoints ,exhausts ,structural points for rust, lights ,seatbelts to name but a few. This costs around £40 a yearif your car fails you must get the faults rectified before using the car again and have a re-test

Ouch. Yeah, some states here have something like that. Not quite as harsh, I don't think, but they check the emissions. I was just wondering if you have the same as some of us do. They stopped doing emissions in Minnesota a long time ago. But WOW, you sure do have it worse. I guess it helps give you a reason to keep the Jeep in good condition.

Many people find the mot test a less pleasant experience but I think it is a good way to see if everything is in order especially as you can't trust the dealers over here.
Last time I had 2 female mechanics check my KJ from top to bottom for over an Hour while I was watching them and sipping free coffee
In the end I got an all clear with a small list of points to keep an eye on for the near future and that all for £52, that's a bargain.
