I haven't done it myself, but from looking at the thread on Ausjeeps, it looks to take a good day if you know what you are doing. If you haven't done one before, but feel confident to cut into your wing etc, probably allow a weekend just to be safe.

Thanks for the answer Lancer.
My snorkel is now fitted (with UCA arms, clevis lift done, bumpstops, new cb and straps behind front shocks to prevent over extanding).
The snorkle took one whole day to be fitted. As Kelticknight, I feel a liitle more peps now. Pics will come next week.
Well, I'm very close to be ready to start my annual Morrocco trip next month... VERY HAPPY. :D
Thanks to everybody in this forum that gave me good ideas, advices and shop's links.

Looks terrific!! I'm still amazed by people who say that you can't take a KJ anywhere "serious" :D

Thanks Lancer. :)
Sometimes, I wondered if I would replace my KJ with a Toyota hdj 80 or 100... :shock: But my friends, making races & rallyes such as Transafricaine or Paris-Dakar, told me to keep my Liberty because of its great looking and good capabilities... That's really true, during my 3 last trips in north Africa, the KJ was able to follow the Toy's everywhere as well on sandy (1.3 kg tires inflation) or rocky tracks !
The only difficulty has been to find a right and strong enough set-up for springs and shocks... I finally found one : after 6000 kms on Africa tracks, my suspension is still perfect this year ! I fitted HD springs (Kingspring) and HD shocks (OME) with bumpers and belts to prevent shocks from over extansion and over compression. :D

Yes, it is a far more capable vehicle than it is given credit for. I like the relatively short wheelbase - long enough for stability, short enough for manoueverability.

The OME shocks I can get here (although at a cost!), but where did you get the King springs, and what are the part numbers? I am currently unemployed, but I am planning a suspension upgrade/lift when I can afford it again:)

Well Lancer. I don't know exactly where my usual workshop bought the coils but generally they bought accessories from KLMG. Otherwise, try on the web : http://www.kingsprings.com/distribution.htm. "Kingsprings" is an Australian company and very famous in France to build the best springs.
The SPRINGS parts numbers for my 2004 CRD KJ were :
* Front HD : KJFR27HD
* Rear HD : KJRR28HD

For the OME shocks I used NS131 for front and N132 for rear.

Have a nice day.

That is just beautiful! I love the desert. How did your KJ behave in the sand? My wife an I spent some of our honeymoon in the Namib Desert in Namibia. I got to drive a Toyota Hilux 4x4 in the sand in the Sossusvlei area.

Drove quad-bikes on the dunes in this area in the image below. (click on the thumbnail)

Was an amazing place to say the least.

Hi Kugellager,

Your pano-pic in Namibia is really fantastic ! Well done. Your honeymoon shoud have been terrific in such a beautiful country !
The KJ behaved very well in sand and dunes. Just set my mud-tires at 1.3kg inflation, selected the first or second part time long gears and climbed up any dune coming... As well as the big Toys or Mitsu of my friends!

Hope to get back there soon... On sand tracks with friends :wink:

Ok so 1.3kg is about 18.5 psi if I am using the correct conversion. That is about the same as most of us use in Colorado on our trails. I would have thought you would want to go lower for sand, but it sounds like you have no trouble keeping up with the other people in your group.
