I'm not sure but I can remember that I read somewhere that when using biodiesel in the 2.5 CRD you should replace the seals of the fuelpump more often as they dry out, it said something like: "notify the dealer when using biofuel at service interfalls as seals should be changed more often due to higher wear".
You could check out German bio fuel sites as they have the most experience with the stuff or you could contact VM in Italy.

The 2.8 CRD should be ok though.

If you ask in the CRD section they will all say no problem, but 99% of them are 2.8CRD's in the US and they have no experience or knowledge of our lovely little 2.5 CRD unit.

I found this:

From 2005:
Chrysler (Deutschland) Info: 02273 / 9570

It means from 2005 Chrysler CRD engines can use 5% (B5) bio diesel fuel in a mix of normal diesel but they can not use 100% biodiesel and there in no modification kit for 100% available.

----------------------

I also found that biodiesel can damage: your tank (it eats plastick), your fuel pump, your filter unit, all your seals, the injectors and it will mix with the engine oil and unlike diesel that evaporates above 55 degrees, biofuel replaces your engine oil slowly but steadely as it evaporates only above 250 degrees.

So when you have a 2.8 CRD from 2005 onwards you can use biodiesel B5 only (5% bio/95% normal).

If you use biodiesel in a 2.5 or a 2.8 from before 2005 or when you use 100% biodiesel in the newer models it will destroy your KJ slowly but surely.

At least that's in Euro's we are getting close to that in £.

Some greedy tanker drivers decided that they want to earn more than a doctor over here and are striking for 4 days now, de-stabelising the fuel supplies and prices are going through the roof.

I'm doing about 500 km a week, that's about half what you are doing so I can hold out a bit longer especially as my Kj is doing 8.4L on average during the summer.
