Kelticknight: I think we may have a solution for our way overpriced fuel filters: Racor!

Image

Look here: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=38068

or better here http://liberty.eurekaboy.com/racor.htm ( I know, that is a 05+crd but the main filter head looks a whole lot like ours. Now if our bowl with the heater unit and water sensor fits..?)

People say Racor is based in the UK? Jimmy? http://www.parker.com

Maybe we can get one of those filters (the R25S) and see if they fit on our OEM stuff. That would be cool, US price is $20! :D

EDIT: I just found out I have their main Spanish operation right next door, will give them a visit!

I've had a Racor for about a year now, no problems. Still on the first filter.

Woops, I somehow missed that one sorry about that ATXKJ.

You know how this goes, you read stuff and you think 'I need to remember that' and then you wake up the next day and poof, its gone.

Or 'ow I don't have that problem so lets go read something else'....

Hiya Keltick, glad you still want to talk to me :D :D (j/k)

I suppose preformance would be even better because the filter body seems to be a bit bigger then the OEM thing so it lets through more liters per hour.

It's also a 2 micron (very fine) rated filter just like the OEM.

I picked up my new filter head today and have that laying in my KJ so now al I need to do is drive by the supplier and see if that filter screws on to the OEM filterhead. Will let you know asap! (probably Monday)

No, I am going to see if the filter unit (R25S or R20S) fits on our OEM stuff.

Then you don't have to buy the filter head or fuss around with the heather in the lower bowl.

Update: ( sorry to take so long, in Spain everything goes slow...)

I got a Racor / Parker R20, it looks just like the MOPAR one ( sizewise ).

It fits to the OEM filterhead, now all I have to do is check if the bottom bowl fits.

Wil post pics as soon as I can take my filter out.
