I just picked up a repair kit for the Chrysler 8.25 rear axle (what we have on our KJ's) in the USA
for $50...

All bearings etc. Maybe someone can send you one of these kits?

Hello
The vibration bay be the upper ball joint about to fail. Mine sheared off at the axle mounting. Then the upper arm hit the wiring harness for the tank and speed sensor. It isnt too expensive and not to difficult to do as long as you can access a bearing press. The mopar joint was £70 all in from the dealer. A complete new arm with joint and bushes was near £200.
Hope this helps

its a combo of 2 things i found out,the bf wore unevenly so change tyres too lassa tyres ,which are made by bridgestone, super grip on road , specialy in wet conditions, and the ball joint was worn but fully gone,so changed it
all ok again,i have different problem now,if i pick up speed hard going through the gears or pick up speed when passing out traffic hard, the jeep would cut out, after 10 seconds,i can start it again, its not fuel related,or water or dirt in lines ,changed everything twice, still there, its electronic,or electrical ,only thing im wondering,i had my ecu chipped about 4 years ago,too get better performance which i did, wondering with my kj having higher mileage ,is having it chipped causing it,

i noticed you have a 6 speed gearbox, did you have a 5 speed before, was it a straight swap or did you have too alter few things too get the 6 speed too fit,are you getting better mileage with 6 speed over 5 speed

Hi. Sorry for the delay. My original five speed gearbox was filled with non mopar gear oil at a service and developed a loud whine so needed repairing. With all the problems with dealers closing down. I Located a gearbox on ebay for £450. When i was delivered it turned out to be a six speeder. As I couldn't locate a five speed with transferbox. I thought I would see if it would fit, as the floorpans couldn't be all that different. And it does without too much hassle. To make it fit you will need to keep your original gearbox crossmember and mounting as the 05 model is mounted in a different place on the chassis rail and exhaust mounts are also different. You will need a front and a rear propshaft/ driveshaft from the six speed model and a wiring plug to fit the reverse switch as they are different. You will have to use the old bracket from the original transfer box as the cable has a slightly different retaining clip. You will need the gear lever and six speed gear knob. The clutch slave cylinder, clutch plate, release bearing and arm are all the same between five and six speed. All you need to do is bolt it back up to the adaptor plate and away you go. As you say the fuel economy has gone up by two to three miles to the gallon. The gear change is a lot smoother and a lot less noise. Also it it makes for a more flexible engine as you have a better spaced set of gear ratios. I will get the part numbers off the shafts when I get a moment as I am swapping the 2.5 for a 2.8 from a 05 fitted with an auto box. And I am going to covert it to manual using the six speed manual.

Go for the six speed its no more difficult than putting in a five speed. Makes the 2.5 work less. A better box by a long way. Just make sure you get the shafts and gear lever and you are away.

Thats all you need. Just make sure you check the transfer box output shaft oil seal isnt split and away you go. If you have any problems send a message and i will see if i can help.
Good luck finding a gearbox though.
