Anyone had stuff from over the pond ?

Just lookin at Rancho shocks, and would any of you know "roughly" what shipping /tax etc. would cost on a pair of RS9000XL's ?

They are on the JBA site at $112.89 each, so by my reakoning, thats around £140 GBP for a pair ... but I have no idea what's added onto that, and how much it would be ??

Any help appreciated

if you order via JBA they will quote you the price + shipment cost to the UK. Once in the UK it need to go via Customs and they will add 20% (import duty) to the value of the good (I think including shipment cost if not state separate). It's easy, the only problem is UK Customs, that will add anything between 2 to 7 days depending in what mood they are. I have currently a package stuck there now 4 Days and it might be longer sent to me express may I add.

Email JBA (might take a couple of days for an answer back) and ask the to give you a full breakdown of cost and then you can call to pay them over the phone or internet. You can use there on line service but there are some quersk ad you don't have a US address ( there is a work around somewhere on the site to help you get around that , but I don't remember where it is)

Depending what you are fitting at the front, I would go with Bildstein. He you decided yet?

On the previous note about shipping, ask that they shiop it USPS and not with other carriers as they look to be the cheaper as customs will take out any advantage holding parcels up.

Andy,
that sounds good. Only 2 things, you might be ables to save on shipping cost & duty on the front struts by purching them in UK (that is what I did) and just order the back ones you can't find easily over in Europe. I forgot to add you will need extented front bumper stops as bildstein don't have internal dampers like the OME. A part from that you should be good to go. You won't need JBA upper control arms as you are not lifting more than 1.5 for now. If you decide to go higher you can always up date later to OME springs.

Fil, do I also need a pair of these for the front struts, to level out the longer rear shocks from JBA ?

as the struts dont say anything about giving any lift, and the rears are 2.5" lift ??? ... confused again

H&R springs are now on order from Germany and confirmed

With the H&R springs you can use stock size shocks. (Jinstall did)

Shocks do NOT add anything in ways of lift.

Other than that, seems kinda silly to order German made shocks in the USA.

The KJ does not have 'struts', it has a coilover shock. The shocks themselfs do not form part of the suspension like a strut would.

Looks like you might NOT need to order from JBA in the US, Tony has pointed out that you can use the normal back shock lenght for a KJ with this lift ( i would lissen to Tony's advise). So I suggest you order them all here in the UK, it will save hassel with Customs ( my package has just about cleared Customs after a week at Heathrow).

The contact I sent you for here in the UK should be able to supply front & rear shock ( might still want to shop around to get a better deal). Looking forward to see the results. Just measure first your height as standard and the result after and let us know.

Front: Bilstein part: 24-139168

Hi Andy,
yes those look like the parts you can see it here: http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/frame-manranges.asp?code=12
I didn't realise you could get H&R coils at Motorsportworld, you live and learn  , but i guess the price from Germany still come in cheaper.

Photos once all the parts arrive and are fitted. Remember you must get allignment and camber done once you have fitted it all.

I have fixed the link now, so it works (thought I had fixed it yesterday).
Remember to take photos before and after.

Andy,

When I change mine I was 17.5inc at the front & 18.5inc at the back with 80K mls on the clock, so 18.5inc is still good enough. You should expect after to be about 20 inc all round. I expect when the time comes you will be able to fit taller tyres for sure go to 245/70R16 and maybe even 245/75r16 without rubbing or pinc weld pauding.

I really like the 6 spoke wheels on it at the mo (I havent too many of them on KJ's before) but they are 17 inchers ... so I will either go for 245-70-17's and get the wheels re-furbed, or source a set of 16 incher's and go for 245-75-16's on black steel wheels :D

Andy,
sound like a plan. I have 2 trains of tyres and I like them both. Sadly we can't get Moab's over here otherwise I would buy a set, shipping from the US not realy an option until i hit the Lottery Jack pot
