Not really. The only difference is the location of the drain and fill plugs

What is that cylindrical, oil filter-shaped thingy?

That is the shift motor. It moves the linkage inside of the tcase. When the KK came out, the old shifter handle went out the window for that

The shift motor (3) is an electromechanical device consisting of a DC permanent magnet motor, a gear train and an analog position sensor. The shift motors' overall function is to move and lock a gear that moves the range fork found in the transfer case. This allows the transfer case to be shifted electrically to multiple operating positions (4WD LOW, 4WD LOCK and 2WD). The operating current of the shift motor under stall conditions is 30 amps maximum at 72° F with 13.5 volts, at the motor leads

Please note that the Fill Plugs should be removed FIRST...

Why you ask, well if that plug is buggered up and will not come off, then you can still go get tools to fix it before you drain the fluid out.

Just a owrd of advice from someone who have drained and filled to many tranny to count.

What is the name of the tool to fill them back up with the new oil? (so I know what to ask for at the store).

Yes, I know I'm reviving an old thread, but hey, I don't do it THAT often.

You can use a transfer pump that screws on to the bottle. They are like 6 bucks.

Can Valvoline ATF +4 Full Synthetic be used in place of the Mopar branded stuff? And like engine oil, are there any risks using full synthetic if it is a higher mileage (92,000) vehicle?
