Disassemble

1. Remove the lower sway bar end link bolt from the LCA

2. Raise the vehicle with a jack placed under the LCA and place a jack stand on the pinch weld/frame rail being the tire. Leave the jack in a raised position.

3. Remove the wheel.

4. Remove the upper ball joint nut. Next use a large hammer such as a sledge hammer and strike the area highlighted in yellow. This should pop the ball joint loose

5. Remove the brake caliper

6. Remove the lower clevis retaining bolt.

Install

1. Install X number of conduit nuts

2. Install the clevis fork. If the clevis will not slide back on to the bottom of the strut, spread the clevis collar open.

3. Install Upper clevis retaining bolt. Tighten the bolt to 108 N·m (80 ft.lbs.)

4. Raise the LCA to prepare it for install of the lower clevis retaining bolt.

5. Install the clevis bracket lower bolt to the lower control arm. Tighten the bolt to 150 N·m (110 ft.lbs.)

6. Install the nut to the upper ball joint. Tighten the nut to 41 N·m (30 ft.lbs.) plus an additional 90° turn.

7. Install the caliper

8. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tighten the lug nuts to 100 ± 15 ft.lbs.

9. Remove the jack stand

10. Lower the vehicle.

11. Install the lower stabilizer link bolt at the lower control arm. Tighten the bolt to 102 N·m (75 ft.lbs.)

Great "how-to" Digger. Thank you.

It would be handy if you went ahead and clarified in your write-up the size (2"?) of conduit nuts needed for the clevis lift.

Thanks for the write up w pics. Well explained. I noticed you had two, could you tell how much it boosted up your ride, and how many conduits do you think would be the max you could do? Just opinion will do, I'm just thinking if I should level my ride for the time being, or go w the RockKrawler. Still undecided :x

Thanks

It took it up 3/8ths I think....

This is a cheap and easy way to cheat on getting some lift :jester:

Max, Most would say 4. But I know of people who run way more

I thought 3 was max..... :|

Anyway the conduit size is 2", if it's the same as a KJ...

Thanks for the size HJ..

I personally would only run 3 to 4 if I had to... But I know of others that run more....

Post subject:  Re: Clevis Lift How To

Thanks for the info. I was doing a bit if research on the subject and I saw somewhere that it only works for aftermarket shocks, is this true? or can it be done w stock struts? Also read that RK Clevis lift will eventually damage the shocks, is this true? Would an over the top have the same effect on the Shocks as the RK clevis lift? Sorry for all the questions, I know I'm getting a little out of subject since this is the Tech Section, so I'll post this here, but in efforts to keep this How to thread, as clean as possible if anyone would like to answer this questions can go to my post http://www.lostkjs.com/forum/phpBB2/vie ... 08c21a3f43
Thanks again

Did you remove the clevis lift with the 4" JBA lift?

Yes, with the current lift, I'm not running any extra top plates or a clevis lift

Hello Digger, I noticed this was started back in 2009, does it still apply to 2012 liberty.
Thanks

Yes same goes for 02-07 KJ and 08-12 KKs
same suspension parts except for UCAs different between KJ and KKs

Post subject:  Re: Clevis Lift How To

Hi all, for the sake of asking and also any warranty repairs I might still have, if I was to just slide the strut up in the clevis not putting anything like a conduit nut for the measurement or holding it there so it don't slide back down. Do I need to still go through taking out the lower sway bar link, popping the UBJ, and removing the lower and upper clevis bolts.

Post subject:  Re: Clevis Lift How To

The only hardware required for this are the conduit nuts, correct? I'm not doing anything to the year, just want to even it out.

You don't need conduit nuts at all. Just measure and move it to that measurement and tighten.

You can do it that way, but over time from hitting bumps and vibration it will sag back to where it was. Best to use no more than 3/8" of clevis lift too.

Post subject:  Re: Clevis Lift How To

yeah, i'd like to have the conduit nuts in there i think. I am putting in a 2.5'' OME lift in, so I'll put (2) two nuts per clevis in the front and I am good and level...i think. haha, i've been staring at these write ups for 15 months, just want to do it right!

The only thing I wanted to add besides the springs and shocks was to the clevis to level out. I wasn't sure if I needed top plates for the front or not.
