I did some research and it does... nothing. Basically you can do the same thing by pressing the throttle faster. Its a total spoof and I wouldnt waste my money on it. |

If its the "magic cure all" for every single make and model of vehicles right out the gate, Its snake oil. |

the other issue with them is it puts you at full throttle when your only at 75% the only way this system would help you out is if it got the signal there faster (pushing pedal down faster) then backing back down to real life input. |

Hi all, I just installed a Sprintbooster in my 2008 Liberty. It's a trial run for 30 days to assess drivability/practicality issues. Yes, it's an expensive item. Yes, it does not increase horsepower or torque, just pedal sensitivity. This Youtube video explains it well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yrBpL45u-k I'm looking to improve what I consider sluggish response in highway situations. It seems inherent in Drive by Wire setups. The installation went as follows: 1.) Open driver's door and leave it open for ten minutes to cancel a possible MIL light. 2.) Using a 10 mm deep socket on a 1/4" ratchet with a short extension and universal joint, remove the two PLATED nuts located at upper left and lower right of pedal housing. This is NOT the instruction provided in the official Jeep Service Manual for disassembly! 3,) Carefully pull down the back of the flexible black shield under the dash towards the brake pedal pad.. This will permit the acclerator pedal harness some clearance as you remove the pedal housing from its mounting bolts. 4.) Gently ease the pedal assembly off the bolts. 5.) Pressing the narrow tab on the harness connector, remove the connector from the pedal assembly. A small screwdriver may be needed to provide a bit of leverage. 6.) The Sprintbooster has a matching connector that fits directly into the pedal assembly. Make sure it seats securely. 7.) Plug the control pushbutton and wire into the side of the Sprintbooster. Again, make sure the connection is secure. 8.) Attach the harness connector to the remaining socket on the Sprintbooster. Check for secure fit. 9.) Now comes the surprise: when I tried to reinstall the pedal on its mounting bolts, the harness connector was jamming up against the steering shaft.. Tightening the nuts would place a great deal of pressure on the connector SO... I installed a heavy nut approximately 3/8" thick on each bolt. The opening of the nuts is larger than the bolt thread, so it's a slip on fit. Then I fitted the pedal assembly onto the bolts and tightened the 10mm nuts in place. The extra clearance is just adequate to allow the space needed for the harness connector. 10.) Carefully route the control wire away from the accelerator pedal and footwell to a convenient SHADED area of the dash. I put mine just in front of the transfer case switch. I noticed that in bright sunlight, it is difficult to see the Green or Red colour glowing from the button when Sprintbooster is armed. I'll move it elsewhere if this doesn't solve the issue. I will report on drivablility/fun factor after a few days testing. So far it's looking promising. |

Does the JET chip already do this? It advertises improved throttle response as well, but how does it accomplish this? Sprintbooster seems a little expensive, but having the three different settings seems cool. |

make sure you get some videos of the throttle response with the different modes. if this works and somebody can prove it, ill be all over this. there are three things i hate about my KK and its the throttle reponse, soft brakes, and esp going off because of the larger tires. |

Update on my Sprintbooster experiment: No video yet, but after a few days of testing, I was unhappy with the installation. As I mentioned in my installation notes, the steering column (which moves with the steering wheel) was pressing against the throttle harness connector. This could eventually cause a cable failure, leading to loss of control. The professional way to solve this would be to provide a harness extension with a male connector at one end (attaches to Sprintbooster) and a female at the other (attaches to accelerator pedal assembly). I have not been able to find out if a male connector of the correct type exists. So I removed the pedal assembly, installed a slotted plate over the upper bolt stud and fitted the pedal assembly so it attaches to the plate approximately one inch to the left of the original stud. This rotates the upper part of the pedal to the left, permitting the Sprintbooster and harness to gain about one half inch of clearance. So far the device is performing as advertised. I arm it when driving on freeways and inter city highways. The acceleration is much more immediate with modest pedal application, which is helpful for merging/passing. I prefer to keep it off when in city traffic or residential neighborhoods for better control. |

sounds good and bad... so what happens when you floor it on the race setting? |

I've decided to keep the Sprintbooster. It does alter the engine response by increasing pedal sensitivity. I don't use the Red setting, which I think provides full open throttle at about 60 per cent depression. Flooring the accelerator with the Red setting armed becomes pointless as there is no more horsepower to unleash. As noted in my previous post, the application is not adequately engineered for a trouble free installation. However I enjoy the engine response this device provides. |

For anyone interested, I am still running the Sprint Booster on my 08 KK. It has performed reliably and made the throttle more responsive when I need to accelerate to highway speeds. I like the fact I can disarm it with a pushbutton when entering reduced speed zones. Remember that it does NOT increase the horsepower of the engine, it simply remaps the accelerator pedal to make it more responsive. |
