My only plans for off road driving is in the 2011 Jeep Jamboree and maybe even the Mounds off road area here in Michigan. For the Jamboree I will be sticking to the level 3 trails as much as I can. I'm a noobie off road driver. Currently I have been quoted a price of $119 for a full set of skid plates. So, should I install some skid plates or will it just be a waste of time and money? Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't know if its because you have the KK but $119 for a full set is a bargoon and a no brainer! however my spidey senses make me question why so low?

I am a Chrysler employee. Which means I get 25% off all parts bought from a dealer. On top of that I also have a friend that has a 20 year relationship with his dealer. So the parts are from a Chrysler dealer. Not from Craigslist or something like that.

Get the skids. Sometimes there are on road hazards as well. :2cents:

I put all 3 of 4 skids on my 09. Front to just before the gas tank. Tank already has what seems like a pretty decent protective shell around it so I wanted to protect the front, oil and xfer case. They have come in handy and caused me to get stuck (or at least helped) the next. They took away some ground clearance but KK's have no more clearence then a Honda Accord (just kidding) but it's less then I wished for without going with a lift. I've bangged them pretty hard a few times so nice knowing they are there when I use the KK for what it's best for climbing over curbs for that best parking spot at the mall. Got it hung on some deep snow. Seemed that it settled down on the skidds just inches from good tracking. When I got my daughter to come and pull me out with your 02 KJ Limited, I looked like I pulled a pie pan off the snow bank. I learned alot from all the snow we got here in Mich this year, the KJ is by far more capable in the snow stock then the KK could be with better tires and all it's electronic trac control crap. But that's another story. Sorry for the rant, just not happy with the KK's ability vs the KJ. Skid plates are a good investment. Don't forget to lube the bolts before you put them in. :wink:

Two things,

1. Get them!
2. Get them!

{1. Better to have than not to have.
2. $119 is a STEAL :shock: }
