Just curious if the KK 3.7L motor is prone to a coolant leak from anywhere specific.
I noticed a small puddle after lunch today, and again everytime I checked after that.
Pulled the 2008 KK into the garage tonight and found it dripping off the oil filter drain pipe. From their it gets tricky to follow, looks like it slips around the harmonic balancer. I lose the trail on the bottom side of the waterpump.
My best guess is it is the pulley shaft, but sticking my finger up there I couldnt find moisture.
I checked all the hoses and found moisture. The only spot I couldnt see or reach was the bottom gasket seal of the waterpump.
Without pulling radiator/fan shroud it really is difficult following a leak.
Anything specific I should check before I dig too deep?
A little background...I have had the jeep for 6 months, has 53,000 miles and recently the engine has sounded a little rattly, almost like the lifter or valves were a little noisy. Tonight when I started it with the hood up it sounded like a small piece of metal bouncing around every so often. Is this the bearing in that pulley shaft about to blow?
Please help, I am open to any ideas before I go full out this weekend.
I am frustrated with this Jeep. I replaced my old 1990 Bronco because I was tired of things breaking. Now I have a vehicle that I pay $400 a month for and still get the little annoyance(ie coolant leaks, EVAP codes, Gas overflow)....ok done venting
Thanks
Jeremy
