So my 2011 liberty was fine up until we had a baby. Now were realizing that the back doors don't open wide enough to easily put the car seat in and out. My wife wants to trade it in for the Grand Cherokee already but I was wondering if there is any mod I can do to the back doors to make them open wider for easier access?

Why are you taking the car seat out? That seems a bit extreme. Unless you are talking about one of those baby-seat things that snaps down to a base and also fits on a stroller. I use one of those, and haven't had any trouble getting in and out of the back of my '08 Liberty.

Although I do agree that the doors don't open wide enough. Although it has saved me from having my older kids bang the doors into other cars as they get out.

I've never had any issues with how wide the doors open on mine. We've been hauling around our 2-year old nephew since he was born.

I don't really know of any mod but I'm sure if you contact some body shops or custom car shops they could give you an idea. I mean heck if they can put Lambo doors on a civic they must be able to help you!

Of course the cost might be less to just trade in for a Grand Cherokee.

It's probably going to be a lot less expensive to buy an extra child seat. Other than that just leave one in the Liberty permanently. There should be no reason to take it out. It just sounds like your wife wants a Grand Cherokee. Worst case scenario, keep an extra seat in the trunk if you need one to put in a shopping cart when getting groceries.
