Hey guys, I just need to hook a light up to my dimmer switch, that way when I turn my lights on the light turns on. I figured if I wired it into the dimmer switch, I could also adjust the brightness of it. I opened up my dash and took off the bezel to reveal the wire, however, I figured out from another thread that the dimmer switch wire is Orange with a brown stripe (I think), but i cant find it. any advice? in every chrysler product I've ever owned, the dimmer wire was always an orange wire. if you see that you can always VOM it and see if it's the dimmer wire. |

idk, but wut I ended up doing was taking off the plastic thing the 4wd switch was mounted to and finding it. for some reason that was the only place I could find the wire. I'll post pix of my finished stuff tomorrow |

found it in the FSM. wire color: OR/BR (orange w/ brown stripe) pin 19 on the cluster pin 3 on the radio reference page 8W-40-3 of the 2006 KJ FSM. |

oh hell if I know. grab a VOM, probe the wire, turn the cluster lights on and watch the voltage. if it changes when you turn the dimmer up and down then you're good to go. |

I just replaced my radio and didn't see any orange wire in the stock harness. I have an orange dimmer wire in the new harness but no where to hook it up Sent from my Galaxy Nexus |

dug into this a little more, thinking you guys must be blind, on crack or both. turns out... KK's DO NOT have a dimmer wire at the radio! looking now to see if there's a control off the MFS, or does it stupidly use the CAN bus. |

Verified no dimmer wire in the KKs. Per a friend of mine who does car audio installations in FL the dimmer function is controlled by the computer. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 |

There is a dimmer wire on the KK, just not behind the radio. The one I tapped into is located under the 4WD /4WL switch. I can't remember the color though. If you see the wire you'll figure it out lol Sent from my iPhone 5 |

Hey guys, I ran a few cables from the dimmer switch to my light switches. The color of the wire is orange with a gray stripe. I had to splice the wire from the 4x4 switch. Tht wire is the only orange wire running to the 4x4 switch. |
