Post subject:  Headlight Upgrade Question

So, I just bought my 2011 KK, and I love it. Everything, that is, except for the headlights. Mine has the basic headlights without the integrated fog lamps.

Has anyone upgraded from basic headlamps to the fog lamp version? Does it require any additional wiring or is it "plug and play" to make the switch?

Hi Stripah, unfortunately it's not plug and play. To install them first you'd need new headlight housings. I don't know if the wiring already exists behind there, or if you'd have to add it. The oem switch for the fogs will be on the stalk for your headlamps on your steering wheel, so you would need that. Then the Jeep dealership will have to flash your computer to tell it you now have fogs. :dizzy: Or-- as some have done-- buy the housings but add your own wiring and toggle switch to save the hassle. If you do go homebrew, be sure to use a relay so your Jeep doesn't burn down. :grim: There are several threads on here about adding fogs, and some people have stayed oem, others used their own switch. There are also good diagrams about how to properly wire fogs and driving lights by using a relay. Good luck! :D --LFH

Yeah, I looked into the threads on the DIY headlight mods, and really don't want to mess with that...yet.

I like the look of the blacked-out headlights, though, so I think I'll just get the OEM Mopar units: http://www.justforjeeps.com/lijetblhe.html

Hoping to stay as OEM (and not on fire) as possible...when it comes to electrical stuff, that is.
