decided to start a new thread on KK tire carrier fibrication. it all started when i lifted the truck and put 32 inch tires on and now can't fit the spare in the same place. Here are some pics of completed tire carrier which will be bolted to the stock hitch frame mounting plates under the truck.

primed and mostly ready to paint:

swing gate mount and baseplate (note the 3 holes drilled in the mounting plates which will be bolted to the hitch mount plates):

swing gate with actual tire and gas can mounts (sorry about the image quality):

fitting the tire carrier for drilling and welding prior to priming and painting (yes, I know it sits too low so please don't beat a dead horse :dead: ):

Very nice, you have real talent. Any thoughts on marketing them?

otlip,

Thanks for the compliment but i can't take credit for this. I just bought the hinge and latch to a friend's fabrication shop and we worked out a design based on my preferences:
1. keeping the original tow capacity
2. unobstructed rear view
3. able to pop the glass tail gate
4. keeping it as light as possible but also making it as strong as possible

as for making for other's, I think he may be willing to. I still have not gotten the bill for this build. It was time intensive, since I added the following items:
1. CB attena mount - drilling and tapping for the bolts
2. wiring holes/holders to illuminate license plate
3. license plate mounts on the gas can holder

it's a wonder what a can of spray paint and a can of clear coat can do. too many nooks and crannys for powder coating.
