Has this happened to anyone here? After 40K miles, when I take the key out of the ignition, it says that it's still in there! Do I just spray some silicone lubricant inside the keyhole to un-stick stuff, or something else?!

Have you tried disconnecting the battery then removing it?

That was one of the first things I did. Tried to reset the system. Didn't work. I also checked the cable attached to the gear shifter, as well as the little pressure pin that pushes up into the tumbler when the Jeep is in gear, and that's not the issue either. I think the problem is inside the tumbler somewhere. The wife leaves the keys in the ignition when it's parked at the house, just pulled out far enough that it doesn't ding. I'm ordering a whole new ignition housing, tumbler, and that little electrical piece on the end....oh, I also have to get a new plastic shroud that covers the steering column, as I'm going to have to cut it off since the key is stuck in the ignition.

get remoil. is a spray made by remington to clean and lub fire arms.
is very simple. the igntion switch has like a lid that slides in and out and i may be stock all the way in, spray with the oil and that is it.
it happened to me in few cars not in the kk yet but i know that is the problem

There's your reason why, now you gotta fix it.
