I just want to express my dislike for the location of the Oil Filter on the KK. With everything that is placed on a motor, the oil filter is probably the most replaced part and auto manufacturers continue to put the filters in the most obscure places. I thought I was going to have to put another joint in my arm between my elbow and wrist just to get to the darn thing. I'm sure I'm not the only person that dislikes it. I couldn't imagine being a mechanic at a stealership and dealing with it every day! |

Yea, they tried to hide it ![]() I use a filter socket and 3/8" drive extensions. It's like a carnival trying to get the threads started but it's the best way I've found without drawing blood ![]() |

So far I've figured the best way to get at is while under the Jeep is to have your feet toward the back and head towards the front bumper. Much easier for me to get it that way. |

Oh come on, it's not that hard. You just have to drop the front diff first ![]() |

I don't know why but it is actually easier to at in my KJ with the skid plate than in my KK with no skid plate. |

Just changed mine today... This is the most ignorant oil filter location of any vehicle I've owned. Never could quite see the entire filter, just the lower front edge. Had 3 oil pans to catch the drippings and still had oil on the floor. And getting the new filter started? That's another story... Someone had to stay up nights to think up something like this. Change the oil filter? - No Thanks, I think I'll just trade her in and go with another 5 years of car payments on another vehicle instead... |
