I have a 2011 Liberty KK Sport and for the past few weeks the parking brake light (and chime) will come on intermittently. I am thinking there is a position sensor/switch on the parking brake handle that needs to be replaced. If I jiggle the parking brake handle i can get it to go off momentarily, also it seems to happen under braking and up and down hills.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks

Check your brake fluid level...after it gets lower than the MIN mark it chimes the parking brake light.

I just ran put and checked the fluid level. It is low.
Looks like its time to that brake job I've been putting off.

What brake fluid do you all recommend?

Any DOT-3 brake fluid will do. I am running Napa's in mine at the moment.

I called the dealer and they want $546.00 for pads and rotors. I found a Powerstop kit from autopartswarhouse.com for $279. Does anyone have and experience with thier quality?
There is just a huge price difference and im not sure if the powerstop kit is cheap or the mopar kit is overpriced.

Thoughts?

Update: I've been doing more research on the internet trying to find a cheaper source of Mopar rotors and pads. i have found two part numbers for front rotors; standard (52109938AB) and heavy duty (04779599AB; 04779599AA). I gave the parts guy at the dealer my VIN and I do not have heavy duty brakes (I think). Other than being twice as expensive whats the difference?

I'm running power stop pads from rockauto.com They were something like $25 for the pads. The performance is as good if not better than stock but they are a little noisy but I'd still buy them again. HD brakes have bigger rotors
