After my last trip to the car wash, I noticed water running down the inside of the rear glass. If you have a slight leak, you might notice only the water spots after they dry. I took a look at the seal and saw it wasn't that springy anymore. The water had also left a stain where it had dripped past.
Here is a comparison between the old seal (AD level) and the new seal (AE level), The new one has added ribs:
Removal is pretty easy; just grab and pull. The hardest part is snaking it out from behind the rear defrost cables.
Installation is fairly easy as well:
1: Snake seal through rear defroster cables at top
2: Seat one end of seal to center of opening at bottom under latch
3: Working around, loosely seat seal all the way around opening
4: Match the other end of the seal to the starting end
5: Work your way back fully seating the seal, pushing the slack out
6: Seat the seal behind the trim panels
