This has been a sporadic issue. Happened twice in a weeks time. Its a 2008 liberty and when i go to start it will crank and crank and crank and not start. The first time it did it it only happened once. The second time it was 4 or 5 consecutive cranks until finally it started. There is no check engine light or anything of the sort. Runs and drives perfectly fine. After i got it running i drove for about 20 minutes. got to work. then removed key from ignition nad opened the door to kick everything off. then shut the door and turned the key to aux and heard the fuel pump prime. so im not sure if it could be going out, a crank position sensor, cam position sensor. Not sure. I did just put a new battery in it and the new battery has a higher CCA than the prior one. anyone have any insight |

Replace the battery and drive more longer trips then short trips. Reset the ECU. Pull the battery ⤵⤵⤵⤵ |

My 08 has done this a few times. Last year it did it twice about three weeks apart. Carried it to the dealer and they said it could be a bunch of things, "maybe fuel pump". Has done it a couple times this year, and the last time it took three or four cranks for it to finally start. Won't be able to get the problem fixed till it completely quits or fails to start routinely so that the dealer can experience the problem. |

So what was the solution here? Same thing is happening to my wife's jeep, and I thought fuel pump right away, but it's priming, and I have yet to see a time when this happens, but she has reported to me that it happened as frequently as twice in one day. |

It's happened to me several times in the spring but there was no known solution. Cam and crank sensor replaced with no change. Fuel pressures checked out fine and the all of a sudden after a couple of fill ups it stopped. My best guess was winter blend gasoline not liking the warmer weather. |
