Please read the How-To and watch these videos before working on the vehicle so as to have the knowledge to do it right.I found two very well done videos on youtube that beautifully depicts what needs to be done to do this job. It's smart to just remove the coolant lines and flush them out and then flush the radiator and engine (flush from bottom to top by inserting hose into lower portion and filling the gaps with a rag to push the water up and out).

If you have a mechanical fan make sure you take it off before you remove the serpentine belt. I borrowed a pneumatic fan clutch install kit from the hobby shop on base but a really big wrench (bigger than 32mm or 1 1/4") and gently tap it loose with a hammer would work too.

If you need help getting the coolant reservoir and fan shroud and belt off please read this:

Good references, NAM. I bookmarked this in the How-To Index.

How is your head gasket after your water pump dumped your coolant and your engine overheated? I have my fingers crossed for you.

So far so good...did an oil change and have been checking for leaks...everything has been dry and new oil is still golden.

I've got a concern...my 08 KK is in a overheating and we've been trying to diagnose what it may be.

Firstly, she started overheating, so I swapped the thermostat. Still overheats. Swapped temp sensor, still overheats. Fan kicks on when it's supposed to, she's got fresh coolant hoses are fine, and we even replaced the water pump...fluid moves when we remove the radiator cap, so that's working well. No leaks but she's STILL OVERHEATING.

I recently (4 months ago) dropped a good $2k at the dealership for a complete system flush and fluid replacement, gasket replacement, etc. I'm at a loss here, I have no idea what step to take next! Halp!

Is it possible you installed the new thermostat backwards? I have read other threads like yours where that turned out to be the issue. If so, it would be a simple fix. Might be worth checking.

The thermostat also has to be aligned a proper way when installed. Could be off by a few degrees.
