Post subject: | Fog light wiring HELP NEEDED !! |
I recently got an all-in-one fog light kit (wiring and lights). Everything went smooth on the install EXCEPT: They have a small gauge wire that is supposed to run from a headlight power wire (Black) to the Fog Light Switch (apparently to make the lights illuminate and the switch to run). However, when I splice the line to the headlight power I get nothing, but when I wire it to the battery ewverything works. The only problem is that the little red light on the fog light switch stays on. Now I have 2 questions: 1. If I keep it hard wired to the battery, and the little tiny red light remains on, will it kill my battery ? 2. Can anyone recommend another low voltage switched spot I can wire this thing into ? I really do not think it will kill my battery because of the size of the light, but I just want some experienced opinions. Thanks in advance, tanker2k6 (Warren) |

welcome to the forum. the cigarette lighter outlet is a supper easy spot since its off when the car is. if the light is an led, it shouldn't. though, leave the jeep off for a day or two and test the theory out. |

are you using a relay to control the higher voltages needed for the light? If so, if you pull up the shifter surround, and maybe the radio surround, you can access the power supply from the cig. lighter. I used this when I wired up my heated seats. |

I'm assuming it's a kit like KC Hilites. If so, I hard wired mine to the battery. My switch's light only turned on when the lights were on though. |
