My wife just came home and her drivers side front brake is smoking. I replaced the brakes with ceramic pads about a moth ago. Jeep is an 08, what could be the problems? Im guessing caliper, brake line and now the rotars probably need to be replaced aswell as the pads?

What are yalls suggestions?

If the fluid hasn't been changed in a while do a complete flush. Clean and lightly lubricate the slider pins that hold the caliper to the bracket. Could be a collapsed Brake line or sticking caliper also. Probably wanna replace the pads at a minimum if they were smoking hot.

Just seen this. I had the same problem a year ago. Burn the brakes up. On the way home, stopped at a red light. Told my son to roll up his windows because we were sitting next to a tandem trailer dump truck (semi) and I thought his brakes were broke, not mine. Got home (a couple miles away), when to back up in the drive and car wouldn't move. Gave it lots of gas and it lurched backwards. Got out and could smell the brakes. Done the DUMB thing. Stood back and hosed it down. MY GOD.. the wheels were even smoking they were so hot. It got so hot, the brake lines collapsed. Once it cooled off, drove it a mile to the garage and got new brakes put on. The rotors were titanium and pads ceramic.

may be a jammed guide pin. alot of DIY repairs forget about greasing them and inspecting. if the guide pin slides in and out smoothly, verify the vacuum tube on the brake booster is actually hooked up. report back if solved or not.

This happened my 08 sport after having rebuilt calipers on for a year, took it apart and lubed pins still had issues.
Replacing the brake line did the trick.

The caliper may be frozen / corroded. If you just pushed in the piston with a c-clamp and the piston or bore was corroded it may now be frozen. How did the dust seal look when it was apart? You could have also pushed some rust back into the line and it is now causing a blockage. Remove and check / lube the guide pins, and try to push the piston back in a bit. Then bleed and see if it frees up. If not need to replace.

Mine did this with rebuilt one year-old caliper, it's the brake line that needs replaced.
