Went online for the least expensive new clutch and fan blade assembly. Total i spent less then $100, thats more then $100 i saved versus getting the oem assembly.

I've had it installed for about 2 hours now and have noticed temperature differances. Idle, no A/C runs at a consistant 198°F. Idle, with A/C 195. With A/C on the fan clutch sounds like it is fully engaged due to the electric fan being on i would assume.

Fan clutch:

Hayden 2905 (Severe Duty) ***good for those that trail and tow frequently

Hayden 2635 (Heavy Duty) ***possible oem clutch assembly***

Hayden 2617 (Standard Duty) *** MUST use oem blade as any other blade WILL cause premature death of the clutch

Derale 23167 (Heavy duty)

Fan blade:

Flex-a-lite 5718 (Black, Aluminium) standard rotation *** Push

Flex-a-lite 5718 (Gold, Aluminium) reverse rotation *** Pull

Mopar 55038108AA

18.25" fan blade comfortably fits the shroud. An 18.5" blade would still work but not confirmed for high rpm scenarios for rubbing.

As i know of, the KK 3.7 is a reverse rotation at the water pump pulley.

Also stating that the KJ is a standard rotation at the water pump.

Stay away from non thermal clutches if you like your fuel economy but buy one if you trail your rig or tow up mountains very frequently.

*** I have the hayden 2905, between the electric fan and clutch there is half an inch of clearance to spare. Removing and installing the fan shroud takes a bit longer then it would with a heavy or standard duty clutch.

Looked up on Hayden site. Says the 2635 is for the Libby. anyone know where to get? Tried my go to Rockauto. They don't carry.

Hayden has recently revamped their catalog, changing many part numbers, and discontinuing several models, including the one on my CRD. I know the number listed in my sig. is correct, as I can check the invoice. But when I tried to look in Hayden's catalog to find application, it either shows as discontinued or non-existent.

UPDATE:

The Hayden 2905 with my 18.25 metal fan (5718) are both still holding up great. Electric fan literally only comes on when the A.C is on. Have taken the rig off road on some easy and not so easy trails since it was installed without any worrisome temp spikes. Temps have not gone over 215° in 90° ambient temperatures on and off road.

Maybe the temps are that good because of a good coolant flush last year with the minimal cooling of the coolant filter. Hmmm.

Started this project.
Have the fan and clutch on but how do you torque to spec? The four nuts on the clutch can’t get a torque wrench in the space between the water pump and the clutch.

Then how do you torque the main nut on the water pump to spec?
I have the spanner wrench coming in the AM.

Don’t want things coming off at 3000 RPM

Just a little snug is fine. They pretty much self-tighten as they run.
